Thursday: Philippi

Thursday morning we arrived at Kavala, the port city for reaching Philippi. Our first stop was to "Lydia's Stream." This is the location of the baptism of Lydia, a dealer in purple cloth, and the first recorded conversion to Christ outside of Asia. We had a short communion service there by the stream, before continuing to ancient Philippi. Although it is not very "sacred" I think one of the highlights of the communion service was watching elder John Applegate try to keep a stray dog from sneaking up and eating the bread before we could!

Thursday afternoon we stopped for a swim in the Aegean, off the coast of one of the Greek Isles. After our refreshing swim we were greeted with freshly made waffles with chocolate ice cream and raspberry purée. Amazing!
