Laila and Julie, walking in St. James'
Park |
St. James' Park (notice the gray
day!) |
The guards, who did not change,
returned to the stables to change
the stable guards. There was no telling
where the guy on the horse was headed,
and it was funny to watch all the tourists
(including myself) scramble to get out
of the way. |

Protesting in front of Westminster Abbey |
Laila, me, Big Ben and Parliament |
This is the 'poppy appeal' outside
of Westminster Abbey. The poppies
are sold to raise funds for a Veteran's
charity. Anyone who is anyone, and
others as well, is seen wearing a red
poppy on his or her lapel during this
period. |
View of Westminster Abbey, from
the cloisters |
Parliament with a field of fall leaves |
Walkikng along the Thames |
A view of St. Paul's Cathecral
from the Starbucks (I know, it is
very American. But it was warm and
had comfortable chairs!) where
we stopped for lunch. |
We had been searching for a 'Lupo' and
finally found one! A Lupo is a VW, smaller
than a 'Polo,' smaller than a 'Golf.' |
The Tower Bridge, Julie and Laila.
The London Bridge is actually behind me,
as I am taking the picture, and is nothing to
see. Apparently the original London Bridge is actually at Lake Havasu,
but
the jury is still out on that one... |

View of theTower of London |
It was Lord Mayor's Day, which meant
that there were fireworks (the Londoners
seem to love their fireworks!) over the
Thames. |
Preparing to board the train for the trip
back north to Scotland. I took the GNER
(Great Northeastern Railroad) apparently
also considered 'The Route of the Flying
Scotsman' |
A view of Kings Cross Station, where,
incidentally, Harry Potter goes to board the train to Hogwarts. I did
not see him there. |
