Tina and me before leaving Jersey |
With all my luggage, at Newark airport |
Before the red-eye flight |
Tina at the rental car counter..."sure, we
will take a stick shift..." |
The cathedral ruins, which are right
next door to where I live (notice
the
blue sky!)
This cathedral was once the
largest in Britain. It was founded in 1160,
consecrated in 1318, and then pillaged
in 1559, during the Reformation.

Me and Tina, along the Fife coastal
path in St. Andrews |
Looking back at the cathedral ruins,
from the end of the pier |

Tina and me (via shadows) with the flowers,
near the "Old Course" which
is
known for being the location of
the home of golf

Tina, at the Whiskey Heritage
Museum in Edinburgh.
In addition to hearing a talk about
whiskey from a ghost (it reminded me
of the Haunted House ride at
Disneyland) we learned that
whiskey is 'the water of life'...
some pretty nasty tasting water,
if you ask me! |
Tina, in front of the "Fringe
Festival" sign. Every August
there is an
Arts Festival in
Edinburgh and also a "fringe" festival to go
along with it
|
Me, in front of Starbucks (one of them)
in Edinburgh.
I was never a Starbucks
fan until seminary, when Nick worked there and I got "significant"
discounts |
Tina, being careful of the falling rocks
|
Tina and me...notice the hair in our
faces, from the wind. This will
be a
common theme! |
Tina, along the coastal path in Crail,
a fishing village just south of
St. Andrews |

Tina, in the driver's seat |
At the 'chip shop' (fish and chips place)
in Anstruther, another small
fishing village south of St. Andrews. Anstruther is the place
to get a 'chippie.' Apparently it has just sold, but the good news is that
another local has bought it.

The harbor in Anstruther |
More harbor shots--for my Dad |
Tina and me, in front of the
cathedral ruins (this is back in
St. Andrews).
St. Andrew's bones lay under
the high altar of the cathedral. |
Me, on the top of St. Rule's tower,
with a view of St. Andrews in the
background |
This is the first attempt at our
self-timer picture, in the midst of
a
windy day |
This is about 7 pictures later... |
Tina, hiding in the stairway in
St. Rule's tower
|
Tina in the underground mines
under the St. Andrews Castle
which was founded
in 1200.
|
In 1545 Protestant reformers were
under siege in these mines under the
castle. John Knox joined them
during this time. These mines are apparently
the best example of
siege engineering in Europe. |
