Tina and me before leaving Jersey

100_0040

With all my luggage, at Newark airport

100_0044

Before the red-eye flight

100_0045

Tina at the rental car counter..."sure, we
will take a stick shift..."

100_0050

The cathedral ruins, which are right
next door to where I live (notice the
blue sky!)

This cathedral was once the
largest in Britain. It was founded in 1160,
consecrated in 1318, and then pillaged
in 1559, during the Reformation.

Me and Tina, along the Fife coastal
path in St. Andrews

Looking back at the cathedral ruins,
from the end of the pier

100_0054

On the pier in St. Andrews

100_0055

Tina and me (via shadows) with the flowers,
near the "Old Course" which is
known for being the location of
the home of golf .

100_0070

Tina, at the Whiskey Heritage
Museum in Edinburgh.
In addition to hearing a talk about
whiskey from a ghost (it reminded me
of the Haunted House ride at
Disneyland) we learned that
whiskey is 'the water of life'...
some pretty nasty tasting water,
if you ask me!

100_0077

Tina, in front of the "Fringe
Festival" sign. Every August
there is an Arts Festival in
Edinburgh and also a "fringe"
festival to go along with it

100_0081

Me, in front of Starbucks (one of them)
in Edinburgh.

I was never a Starbucks fan until seminary, when Nick worked there and I got "significant" discounts

100_0088

Tina, being careful of the falling rocks

100_0093

Tina and me...notice the hair in our
faces, from the wind. This will be a
common theme!

100_0096

Tina, along the coastal path in Crail,
a fishing village just south of St. Andrews

101_0103

Tina, in the driver's seat

101_0105

At the 'chip shop' (fish and chips place)
in Anstruther, another small fishing village south of St. Andrews. Anstruther is the place to get a 'chippie.' Apparently it has just sold, but the good news is that another local has bought it.

101_0106

The harbor in Anstruther

101_0108

More harbor shots--for my Dad

101_0111

Tina and me, in front of the
cathedral ruins (this is back in
St. Andrews).

St. Andrew's bones lay under
the high altar of the cathedral.

101_0123

Me, on the top of St. Rule's tower,
with a view of St. Andrews in the background

101_0124

This is the first attempt at our
self-timer picture, in the midst of a
windy day

101_0130

This is about 7 pictures later...

101_0131

Tina, hiding in the stairway in
St. Rule's tower

101_0137

Tina in the underground mines
under the St. Andrews Castle
which was founded in 1200.

101_0138

In 1545 Protestant reformers were
under siege in these mines under the castle. John Knox joined them
during this time. These mines are apparently the best example of
siege engineering in Europe.

101_0139

Me, sitting in part of the castle ruins
