Roma

March 2004

The first four days of our Italian adventure were spent in Rome. We were a bit limited in our sight-seeing the day before the marathon, as we did not want to tire ourselves out sight-seeing, and just a bit tired the day after, from having endured for 42 kilometers!

Jerry and the Arch of Constantine.
Built in 312 to celebrate Constantine's
victory over Maxentius. This one victory
changed Christianity from being a
persecuted sect to the official
religion of the Roman Empire.

The Arch of Titus commemorated
the Roman destruction of the Jewish
Temple in AD 70. The Romans forced
the Jewish slaves, taken in the sack of the
temple, to build this arch.
