Belfast
Marathon! We did it!! 26.2 miles of it, to be exact! |
Leaving 1 Shaw Street | At the starting line | Notice the fleeces...it was COLD! |
We got rid of our warm clothes and lined up at the starting line... | ...and we're off! | the start of the marathon, while running... |
We ran along the Shankill and the Falls Road, a Protestant and a Catholic area...these were some murals we passed along the way | Julianne is still a happy camper... | Stuart's parents, cheering us on at mile 9 |
They did a better job of taking our picture than I did of taking theirs! | Stu and Ju, running up a never ending hill... | This stretch was beautiful at first (see the water on the left) but was also completely remote, from miles 17-21, no water, no cheering, and we even ran past the city dump!! |
Notice the lorries (trucks) waiting (with their engines running!) alongside the runners...at points Stu's parents even saw the runners stopped to let the trucks through!! | Stu and Ju, near the docks | Julianne, running through the park...the words coming out of her mouth--where the heck is the finish line?! |
We did it! (medals to prove it) | That night at Stu's parents for dinner...what you can't see is the inability for us to walk! |
